Frustrated by his stunted growth, Bakari is bitter towards and envious of his older sister, Lyth. He often roams about to vent and complain to the forest, which was how he discovered a series of tunnels. He explored them frequently, wandering down different routes until he finally found the chained stone sculpture at its heart. He vented to this sculpture frequently, carrying his anger and envy with him every visit, and began to see the statue as a friend. One day, when polishing a rusted metal horn, he accidentally cut his paw and set the demon within the statue free. Suddenly finding himself in control of an ancient murderous demon called Crypt, Bakari's enthusiasm was nearly impossible to hide. He keeps the beast hidden, calling it "Beans" to avoid suspicious from his parents, while planning the great adventures they will have, blind to the incredible danger which has now targeted the pair.
