Adopted by the king of Runestone Island, Arelis is a princess who feels that she has a lot to prove in order to compete with her brothers for the throne. This determination and dedication to her people led her to investigate the routine monthly attacks by the usually peaceful god spirits that ends in the sacrifice of a villager. In this crusade, she found an ancient scroll which revealed that the past belief for the reasoning of these attacks was indeed fake, however she was not able to continue further. Her father and his council gave her finely crafted items, proclaiming that it was to celebrate her becoming a true runner for the throne. However, that night the accessories would not release themselves from her and the gems hummed and burned, leading to an attack from a god spirit. Barely getting away, Arelis immediately sensed that something was amiss and hid in a cabin on The Wicket, feeling that revealing she was alive and well was not the best choice at this time. It was there that she met Clementine and their strange, chaotic adventure began.
