Aphelion is bears the curse of a possessed living tail as a result of her mother making a deal with a demon. As a result, Aphelion was born blind and constantly is battling the will of the demon in her tail, which she has begrudgingly called Astrid. Overtime, she decided to set off to sea, not trusting Astrid and feeling cut off from her home. It was out at sea that she both nearly died, and found her fate.
