Apep was recruited to the guardians when the ancient spirit Libra sparked war to claim the island of Kei Nairi. Capable of summoning purple lightning from the skies at will, he proved himself an asset to the team and was essential in Libra's defeat. After the war, Apep soon quit his roll as guardian not long after having joined. He found Keahi Lele and quickly fell in love with her. When their child was born with wings, Apep knew what was coming, though he detested it. He held her to the highest standard, purposefully refusing her the luxuries of childhood and replacing them with intense and persistent training which often would result in her collapsing from exhaustion. He wanted her to become far better than he was as a guardian, though he continues to seek excuses to remove her from the roll, feeling that she is still not ready to become one.
